The ocean and coastal areas are under threat: understanding the danger through kitchen experiments
Ronja Lapinoja, a bachelor's student at the ICBM, wants to raise awareness of the threat to the oceans, such as acidification or microplastics. In videos, she shows experiments that you can easily replicate in your own kitchen.
ICBM site Wilhelmshaven, tour of the institute in highlights
Employees at the ICBM site in Wilhelmshaven invite you to take a virtual tour in a video. They open the doors to their laboratories and workshops and provide an insight into their research and work.
Biodiversity and climate change: move, adapt or die (special offer for school classes)

Research at sea (special offer for school classes)
In his online event for school classes, Dr Thomas Badewien explains how scientists work and live on a research vessel, how they retrieve water samples from a depth of 6,000 metres and what happens if someone gets seasick. Participation only possible with registration.
Botanical newcomers in dunes, salt marshes and beaches
(Lecture ~ 20' + 10' discussion, limited to 40 participants) Start: 11:00 h

Many of them are harmless, but some are competing with native species in a cut-throat competition in which the latter fall by the wayside. In his lecture, doctoral candidate Markus Prinz will provide insights into current invasion research and applied nature conservation.
