What artists hide in their pictures

Artists don't just paint pictures so that we can hang them on the wall. They often play with the viewer and hide secret messages in their pictures that are difficult to discover. Some pictures have to be rotated in order to recognise a hidden second picture, others have to be viewed with a mirror or a lens in order to decipher them at all. There are also picture puzzles that have not yet been solved. We want to unravel some of these pictures together with you, while with others you have to work as closely as a detective. The question of why artists have hidden messages, clues and surprises in their pictures is also exciting.
