"Rumble!!! - There goes the whistle, with a roar, terribly big!" - says Wilhelm Busch. But it's not just Max and Moritz who like playing with fire, chemists also do lots of exciting things with fire. Of course you all know about colourful fireworks, and warming yourself by the fire is also great. But did you know that without fire, we wouldn't have many of the things we use every day? No iron, no cars, in many places not even electricity! Some people think that the whole science of chemistry actually began with the discovery of fire.

We will take you on a journey into chemistry and show you what you can do with fire - without burning down the university, of course!
