ViTeLLO - Virtual Teaching and Learning Lab Oldenburg

Virtual teaching-learning lab with many opportunities for interaction and encounters

Face-to-face meetings are not always possible and sometimes not even necessary.

In order to combine the advantages of virtual and real meetings, we had the Virtual Teaching and Learning Laboratory for Computing Science ViTeLLO built. This is a virtual building with several rooms in which participants can walk around with their avatars in a pixelated computer game look, meet and discuss and work together in smaller or larger groups - almost like in real life. There are many rooms with different seating arrangements and plenty of opportunities for informal encounters.

As part of the Participate project, we are trialling different teaching and learning formats with student teachers and for teacher training.

If you would like to visit, please contact Prof Dr Ira Diethelm directly. We are also happy to make the virtual lab available for training courses.

The technical basis for ViTeLLO is gather.town. Gather supports us with a licence contingent as part of its sponsorship for non-profit organisations, for which we would like to express our sincere thanks.
