2nd Oldenburg Marx Conference (Nov. 2018)
2nd Oldenburg Marx Conference (Nov. 2018)
The second Oldenburg Marx Conference on this topic took place on 2 and 3 November at the University of Oldenburg.
Using our experiences from the first conference in March 2017, we restructured the conference programme with the aim of emphasising discussion among the conference participants. There were three-hour blocks, each dedicated to the topics "Marx's life and work", "Marx's critique of philosophy", "The conflict between nature and capital: capital versus nature", "Money, capital, credit" and "Marx and the 'fourth industrial revolution'". Within these blocks, we assigned two roles, one of speaker and the other of responder. We asked the respondents to focus their remarks primarily on responding to the speakers' theses.
As with the conference in March 2017, there was a great deal of interest this time too. There were between 60 and 80 participants on Friday and around 50 participants on Saturday.
In response to many requests, we are making the audio recordings of the individual discussion blocks available.
Here you can find the conference flyer.
Here you will find the programme booklet with explanatory texts on the individual discussion blocks.
