Brief details of the role:

• Position: Intern in the research project ‘Quincy – Sociotechnical innovations for sustainable skills development in European collaboration networks”

• Organisation: The IÖW is a leading research institute in the field of practice-oriented sustainability research. We develop strategies and approaches for a sustainable economy – one that enables a good quality of life and preserves the natural foundations of our world.

• Start date: as soon as possible

• Location: Berlin, with the option of partial remote working

• Details: Assisting with the preparation, conduct and evaluation of interviews and field observations; supporting the production of information materials, academic publications and presentations.

The City of Oldenburg offers students the opportunity to undertake a compulsory work placement in the field of sustainability within its Economic Development Department.

The City of Oldenburg’s Economic Development Department deals with a wide range of issues at the interface between business, innovation and sustainable development. Within the Regional Development Department, the focus is on, amongst other things, the circular economy, climate protection, support for start-ups and innovation, and digitalisation in a business context.

Your responsibilities:
During the placement, you will gain practical insight into the work of the local economic development agency and will be involved in day-to-day operations. You will contribute to various projects and events and take on the following tasks, amongst others:
• Contributing to projects and initiatives in the field of sustainability and regional development
• Assisting with the planning and organisation of events
• Researching and compiling information
• Drafting and revising texts, presentations and information materials
• Supporting communication with businesses, institutions and other stakeholders
• Assisting with other organisational and content-related tasks within the department

This role will give you the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge gained from your studies into practice and gain an insight into the implementation of sustainability in a local government and business context.
