Rational points on singular cubic surfaces

Cubic surfaces over number fields often contain infinitely many rational points. The Manin conjecture precisely predicts the distribution of these points. For smooth cubic surfaces this conjecture is wide open. In this talk we will explain how the Manin conjecture can be proved for some singular cubic surfaces over the rational numbers and imaginary quadratic number fields with the help of Cox rings, universal torsorsors and analytic methods.
