KIBUM
KIBUM
KIBUM is an annual exhibition of German-language books for children and young people that have been newly published in the respective year. The Oldenburg fair is the largest non-commercial event of its kind in Germany and aims to provide comprehensive information about the current year's children's and young people's book production and to promote reading.
The Oldenburg Children's and Young People's Literature Prize is also awarded during the fair, which takes place in November each year.
KIBUM has been organised by the City of Oldenburg, the University of Oldenburg and the Adult Education Centre since 1975, and since 1997 in co-operation between the City of Oldenburg and the University's Children's and Young People's Literature Research Centre. The exhibition includes more than 2,000 media from publishers from all German-speaking countries.
KIBUM is accompanied by a supporting programme consisting of lectures, readings, music and theatre performances. The Oldenburg Research Centre for Children's and Young Adult Literature is also represented in the supporting programme every year with a conference, an exhibition or another way of communicating the latest scientific findings to a broad public.
