22. internationaler Wettbewerb mit dem Schwerpunkt auf „musik_szene_theater“

Gesucht werden Kompositionen im Bereich zwischen Musik und Szene, Klang und Aktion, Musik und Theater, etwa in Form von Musiktheaterminiaturen, Musikperformance(s), Expanded Music oder anderen derartigen Spielformen.

Die Einsendefrist für Kompositionen endet am 31.12.2024.

Mit der Ausschreibung des 22. internationalen Kompositionswettbewerbs 2024/25 will das Institut für Musik der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg das Repertoire zeitgenössischer Musik und experimentellen Musiktheaters mittleren Schwierigkeitsgrades erweitern.

Für den aktuellen Durchgang schreibt das Institut für Musik den Wettbewerb aus für Kompositionen im Bereich zwischen Musik und Szene, Klang und Aktion, Musik und Theater, etwa in Form von Musiktheaterminiaturen, Musikperformance(s), Expanded music oder anderen derartigen Spielformen.

Die eingesendeten Werke sollen von geschulten Laien bzw. interessierten Musikstudierenden (Instrumente, Gesangs-/Sprechstimme, Aktion/Performance, Tanz, etc.) gut zu lesen und aufführbar sein. Die genaue Besetzung ist offen, es sollten jedoch eher kammermusikalische Besetzungen (ca. 1-10 Aufführende) bevorzugt werden.

Die eingereichten Werke sollen einen mittleren Schwierigkeitsgrad und eine Aufführungsdauer von 20 Minuten nicht überschreiten und dürfen bislang weder veröffentlicht noch aufgeführt worden sein. Für die Teilnahme am Wettbewerb gibt es keine Altersbegrenzung.
Kompositionen von Teams (Komposition, Regie, etc.) sind auch möglich. Die inhaltliche Ausrichtung der Werke ist freigestellt.

Die Werke mit Werkkommentar werden anonym in zweifacher Ausfertigung erbeten, sowie ein verschlossener Briefumschlag, der Namen und Adresse des Absenders und einen kurzen Lebenslauf enthalten soll. Die Einsendungen können nur auf dem Postweg erfolgen.

Die Jury vergibt drei Hauptpreise (1. Preis: 1.000.- Euro, 2. Preis: 700.- Euro, 3. Preis:
500.- Euro) und einen Förderpreis (500.- Euro) für junge Komponist*innen (bis 25 Jahre, Einsendungen bitte auf dem Umschlag mit „F“ kennzeichnen!), sowie Auszeichnungen und Repertoire-Preise.

Die Aufführungen ausgewählter Werke unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Volker Schindel und Kolleg:innen finden voraussichtlich Ende des Sommersemesters oder Ende des Jahres 2025 in der Aula der Universität oder ggf. in der EXHALLE des Oldenburgischen Staatstheaters im Rahmen der klangpol-Konzertreihe "NOIeS!“ statt.

22nd international competition with a focus on "music_scene_theatre"

We are looking for compositions in the field between music and scene, sound and action, music and theatre, for example in the form of music theatre miniatures, music performance(s), expanded music or other such forms of performance.

The submission deadline for compositions is 31 December 2024.

With the announcement of the 22nd International Composition Competition 2024/25, the Institute of Music at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg aims to expand the repertoire of contemporary music and experimental music theatre of medium difficulty.

For the current round, the Institute of Music is holding a competition for compositions in the field between music and scene, sound and action, music and theatre, for example in the form of music theatre miniatures, music performance(s), expanded music or other such forms of performance.

The submitted works should be easy to read and perform by trained amateurs or interested music students (instruments, singing/speaking voice, action/performance, dance, etc.). The exact instrumentation is open, but chamber music formations (approx. 1-10 performers) should be favoured.

The submitted works should not exceed a medium level of difficulty and a performance time of 20 minutes and must not have been published or performed before. There is no age limit for participation in the competition.

Compositions by teams (composition, direction, etc.) are also possible. The content of the works is open.

The works with a work commentary are requested anonymously in duplicate, as well as a sealed envelope containing the name and address of the sender and a short CV. Entries can only be sent by post.

The jury will award three main prizes (1st prize: 1,000 euros, 2nd prize: 700 euros, 3rd prize:

500.- Euro) and a sponsorship prize (500.- Euro) for young composers* (up to 25 years, please mark submissions with "F" on the envelope!), as well as awards and repertoire prizes.

The performances of selected works under the artistic direction of Volker Schindel and colleagues are expected to take place at the end of the summer semester or at the end of 2025 in the university auditorium or, if applicable, in the EXHALLE of the Oldenburg State Theatre as part of the klangpol concert series "NOIeS!".
