The University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (formerly the Centre for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine - Elisabeth Children's Hospital) at Oldenburg Hospital treats infants, children and adolescents as inpatients and outpatients.

Description of the FWJ place

Continuation of the work area of the previous FWJ students (M. Hoffmann, A. Scherer, 2025-26, see field report):

The work area concerns: scientific and clinical collaboration in the high-risk birth cohort at the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health at Elisabeth Children's Hospital.

Introduction to the procedures of a paediatric clinic with collection of clinically relevant findings and study details, including collaboration in outpatient follow-up care and creation of register entries, collection of risk profiles and collaboration in obtaining consent.

Familiarisation with scientific work, including participation in further training courses at the University of Oldenburg (e.g. GCP course). Scientific work with collaboration partners in medical genetics and immunology.

Desired prior knowledge

  • Competent use of IT programmes including Excel and Word
  • Familiarisation with spreadsheet programmes and literature search programmes
  • Knowledge of English
  • Interest in clinical research and clinical practice
  • Good communication skills with patients
  • Internship in a social institution or clinic if applicable
