Neuro- and biofeedback
Stefanie Enriquez-Geppert, Stefan Debener
Fri. 9.00 a.m.
Duration: 4h
The course is divided into three parts. The first part introduces the method of neurofeedback as an experimental form of therapy. Following a historical overview, this unit also contains sections that provide an overview of the components of a neurofeedback system. Furthermore, the established neurofeedback protocols and their areas of application are described. The section concludes with a description of the indication and application of neurofeedback using a specific case study.
In the second part, the neurofeedback method is taught in practice. Firstly, a practical introduction is given to the use of non-commercial software for neurofeedback and brain-computer interface applications (OpenVibe) and the method of motor imagery feedback is demonstrated. Participants will then have the opportunity to try out a commercial neurofeedback system (Nexus MindMedia) under supervision.
In the third part of the course, current research results and questions will be presented. The focus here is on discussing the advantages and disadvantages of certain research designs.
