Introduction to the interpretation of clinical cCTS and MRI Andreas Zieger1, Pia Lehmann2, Niclas Braun3 This further education course aims to give participants an insight into the interpretation of clinical imaging, to demonstrate the possibilities and limitations of the various imaging options and to reflect on their relationship to clinical neuropsychological practice. Essential landmarks for the delineation of important brain structures (e.g. central sulcus, basal ganglia, angular and supramarginal gyrus, Broca and Wernicke area, hippocampus and visual cortex) are first worked out on images of a healthy standard brain in preparation for the identification of structures affected by a brain lesion in clinical images. A recapitulation of the clinical knowledge of the symptoms associated with such a lesion leads back to clinical neuropsychological practice.
At the end of the course, participants should be able to reconstruct lesions using MRIcron (free software) and make a rough neuroanatomical assessment. The course thus provides the basis for more comprehensive independent further education.
