State theatre children's club celebrates premiere in March
Since September, the theatre's three children's clubs have been meeting weekly to develop their plays. The themes are as varied as the clubs themselves:
Kinder an die Macht is the title of the Platt 'n' Studio. In High and Low German, this club explores the question of what would happen if children took world affairs into their own hands and ruled the world. Would Trump have been elected? Would there be war or peace? Would there be borders? Or just chocolate for everyone?
A special feature is the club entitled Just two words: Seni seviyorum, which explores the power of words in Turkish and German. What would it be like to live in a country where you have to swallow words before you can pronounce them? And what happens if you don't have the right words for the right moment or the right situation? What are words? What effect do they have? Can they take on a different meaning? What does "seni seviyorum" mean then? Or "I love you"?
The theme of the third club is based on the book The Language of Water. A girl moves to another country with her mother and suddenly everything is different: the language, the food, the people. There is only one thing that gives her a sense of home: Water! And so she learns that there is more than one way to swim to the top.

My rather strange friend Walter
By Sybille Berg
Lisa is nine, actually almost ten, she is curious and has many interests, but she has no friends. She tries not to stand out at school and is usually alone at home too. Since her parents lost their jobs, they only move from bed to sofa and back. Shared meals, outings and conversations are a thing of the past. But when a spaceship lands in the forest behind Lisa's neighbourhood one evening, her dreary everyday life is set in motion. The alien Klakalnamanazdta, known to Lisa simply as Walter for short, is left behind. And he can't understand why people on this planet treat each other so coldly. Without further ado, he sets about tidying up Lisa's life until she can cope without his help.
Katharina Birch directs this humorous and touching story about a very special friendship, about courage and about the small steps you need to take to stand your ground in difficult situations.
