Around half a million emperor penguins live in the Antarctic. Of all the penguins there are, they live furthest south, on the edge of the Antarctic continent. They also stay there during the Antarctic winter, when it is completely dark and really bitterly cold for months on end. PD Dr Thomas Brey travels with you on the research vessel "Polarstern" to the Antarctic and tries to find out how the emperor penguins manage to survive in this hostile world.
