At the University of Osnabrück, the doctoral programme is run by the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) (Director: Prof. Pott, Social Geography; apl. Prof. Oltmer, Modern History, and Prof. Schwenken, Sociology, are members of the IMIS board). IMIS has been an internationally renowned and strongly networked centre of interdisciplinary research on migration and interculturality for 25 years. A specialised library and well-equipped workrooms offer favourable research conditions for over 30 members and visiting researchers from Germany and abroad, doctoral candidates and project staff. Research interests and research projects at IMIS are currently focussed in three fields: "Migration regimes", "Potentials of migration and hybridity" and "Flight and asylum".
