Project outline
Migrant spatial knowledge and border formations
What role do spatiality(ies) and (migrant) knowledge production about spaces play in the formation of borders? Central to this are, on the one hand, the narrativisation of migrant spatial knowledge and, on the other hand, its concrete forms and manifestations. This perspective allows us to look both at structural aspects such as questions about the transmission of knowledge and at related materialities such as (technical and other) tools and places. Based on the concept of ethnographic border regime analysis, the work utilises approaches from multi-sited ethnography and critical cartography.
