Khorshid Khodabakhshreshad has been a doctoral student and member of the Laboratory for Critical Migration and Border Regime Research at the Institute for Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology at the Georg August University of Göttingen since 2015, where she is working on her doctorate under Prof Dr Hess with the working title "New conjunctures of refugee support work. Between Welcome Culture and Refugees Welcome. An ethnographic genealogical search for traces". Since 2017, she has been a member of the doctoral programme "Migrationsgesellschaftliche Grenzformationen" (Oldenburg, Göttingen, Osnabrück). In 2014, she completed her Master's degree at the Department of Iranian Studies in Göttingen with a focus on gender studies and taught courses there until 2018. In 2015, she was awarded the prize for academic work in the field of gender studies by the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the Georg-August University of Göttingen for her master's thesis entitled "Representation of gender relations in Iranian primary school books".
Project outline
New conjunctures of refugee support work. Between Welcome Culture and Refugees Welcome. An ethnographic genealogical search for traces (working title)
As part of my doctorate , I am genealogically investigating the developments, changes and entanglements in the power/knowledge complex within the field constructed around the discourses of Willkommenskultur and Refugees Welcome. In doing so, I am investigating the questions of how affiliations and exclusions are/have been formed or produced in the field, how the relevant demarcations, changes and contradictions are organised and constructed, but also how spaces are opened up and how these are related to each other and interact.
