In the project "Development and testing of new concepts for integrating sustainability aspects into technical environmental education programmes at selected extracurricular environmental education institutions and in technology lessons at general education schools" funded by the German Federal Environmental Foundation, the Technical Education working group created teaching materials in collaboration with teachers from cooperating schools, Buchmanufaktur Augustfehn and the Regional Environmental Education Centre (RUZ) of the city of Oldenburg.

Embedded in university teaching, lessons and workpieces on the topics of "renewable energies", "mobility" and "wood and paper" were designed and realised together with students. These were then tested in practice in two rounds by teachers from cooperating schools and also evaluated by surveying pupils using questionnaires and feedback rounds. This resulted in the following teaching materials for years 8, 9 and 10.

At the same time, parts of the teaching units were removed and redesigned for use in regional environmental education centres. This included condensing the theoretical and practical content in order to adapt the feasibility to the temporal and structural characteristics of extracurricular learning centres. The materials have already been tested in advance in a project week at an IGS and then optimised. The topics are "book printing", "bookbinding" and "paper production". A unit on the topic of "Building and Living", which is also included in the core curriculum of the subject of technology, is still being worked on and will also be published here later.

At this point, we would like to point out that the Regional Environmental Education Centre of the City of Oldenburg will be offering further training for teachers and staff in the near future. employees other environmental education programmes in the near future. In addition, the RUZ will have its own mobile and rentable workshop on the topics of "paper production" and "bookbinding". This will enable schools to organise project days and weeks.weeks on these topics without having to purchase the necessary equipment.
