Music Education 4.0: Shaping a new technocentric music-educational framework incorporating emerging technologies, AI, and ST(R)EAM practices

 Location: TBA

 Date/Time: TBA

This presentation delves into the transformative potential of Music Education 4.0, a framework that incorporates various technological and pedagogical dimensions—such as music production, the maker movement, programming, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI)—into a new educational mindset. Music Education 4.0 reimagines traditional music teaching by integrating immersive, interactive, and technology-driven learning experiences. This approach aligns with the ST(R)EAM model, fostering cross-disciplinary learning and skill development in communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

Music Education 4.0 establishes the foundation for a new, extended, dynamic, and immersive learning framework. Students immerse themselves in digital music production, utilizing software to compose and remix their creations. Concurrently, the maker movement promotes hands-on instrument creation, encouraging both creativity and problem-solving skills. Programming and immersive technologies, such as VR and AR, enhance spatial and musical comprehension through interactive coding and virtual environments. Additionally, AI tools like generative music models and personalized assistants provide tailored, responsive feedback, making the learning experience more adaptive and engaging. This approach aligns with students' needs and fosters a deeper exploration of music.

Participants will explore current trends in the “Music, Technology, and Education” field through real-life case studies and recent research insights, fostering a dynamic and adaptable learning environment. Additionally, this session will emphasize the role of the ST(R)EAM model in blending arts and technology, promoting a comprehensive skill set that prepares students for the evolving landscape of music and technology. This holistic approach leverages emerging technologies to create a rich, engaging educational experience that connects arts and sciences through ST(R)EAM practices.
