Forschungsinteressen
Meine Forschungsinteressen liegen hauptsächlich in der angewandten Modellierung von Wasserströmung und reaktiven Stofftransport in porösen Medien, mit dem Ziel, das Zusammenspiel von hydrodynamischen und biogeochemischen Prozessen im Grundwasser besser zu verstehen und quantifizieren zu können. Die Anwendungsgebiete umfassen dabei unter anderem:
- Wasserqualitätsentwicklung während der künstlichen Grundwasseranreicherung (Sickerbecken, Uferfiltration, Injektionsbrunnen)
- Transport und mikrobieller Abbau von gelösten organischen Schadstoffen und Arzneimittelrückständen
- Transportverhalten von Schwermetallen/Radionukliden an kontaminierten Standorten
- Küstenhydrogeologie
Als Simulationswerkzeug nutze ich überwiegend das auf MODFLOW, MT3DMS und PHREEQC-2 basierende reaktive multi-komponenten Transportmodell PHT3D (www.pht3d.org). In Zusammenarbeit mit den PHT3D-Autoren Henning Prommer (UWA and CSIRO, Perth) and Vincent Post (edinisi groundwater und Flinders University, Adelaide), sowie einer Vielzahl von Kooperationspartnern wird PHT3D ständig mit neuen Anwendungsbeispielen und Benchmarkproblemen getested und aktualisiert.
