Orientation week

Where is W3 1-161?
Where do I get my timetable from?
Is studying maths difficult?
- All first-year students, always
I'm sure every first-year studenthas asked themselves these and similar questions at some point, because studying can be very confusing at the beginning and orientation is often difficult at the start because there is so much that is new to you.
To help you get your bearings right from the start, we - the student body for Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics - are there for all first-semester students of Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics during the orientation week to make your start at university easier!

What happens during the orientation week?
We as the Student council are experienced students and want to give you a little help to get started with your studies. During the orientation week, we focus on the following programme items for all prospective mathematics and elementary mathematics students:
- Timetable help
You will receive support from older students who are also studying your combination of subjects. In addition to general questions about studying, they will help you to create a timetable for the first semester. You will also get to know your fellow students - if you haven't already - and receive an introduction to the digital learning platform Stud.IP, which is used to organise your studies at the University of Oldenburg. - Uni-Rallye
The Uni-Rallye gives you the opportunity to get to know each other better in small groups and make friends for your studies or even for life, as well as to discover the most important places on campus and learn how to find your way around. - Pub evening
The focus here is on socialising: get to know each other and exchange ideas with each other and with older students. - Games evening
The final event of our orientation week is our games evening every year. We bring the first week of the new phase of life to a lively or cosy close!
When do the programme items take place?
We will work out the exact schedule in the summer and usually announce it here in mid-September. A rough outline of our plans is as follows:
- Tuesday: Elementary Mathematics
On this day, our events for all prospective elementary mathematics students take place:- Timetable info in the morning
- Uni rally in the afternoon
