ALUMNI-STIMMES

Why did you study MMC?
My interest was aroused by my professor in the Bachelor's programme. I specialised in management consulting/starting a business and he simply made me curious about the consulting environment. For this reason, I researched degree programmes with a consulting context on the Internet. With its combination of theory and practice, the Master's in Management Consulting gave me the opportunity to gain this experience.
What was particularly positive?
The projects in the later semesters are a special feature for me, as these are rarely carried out in such a practical way on other degree programmes.
How has it helped you?
These projects and the feedback from them sharpened my understanding of customers at an early stage and helped me immensely in my subsequent consulting work.
What are you doing now?
I am currently a Business Consultant at BearingPoint and try to give back to the degree programme by conducting a case study and actively participating in the consultant symposium.

Why did you study MMC?
I had already successfully completed my Diplom-Kaufmann (FH) degree as part of a dual study programme at German Bank AG at a relatively young age, but I had the feeling that something was still missing. As I didn't want to stay at German Bank, I started looking for further opportunities for academic education. I came across the MMC and was very quickly fascinated by the concept and the career prospects.
What was particularly positive?
The best thing was the small seminars and lectures, which were often led by practitioners and filled with practical questions. This meant that you could always discuss the topics in depth, but not on an abstract level, but always from a mixture of theory and practice.
How has it helped you?
The in-depth examination of very different topics and areas has meant that I now always try to look at the world from different angles.
What do you do now?
I work as Teaching staff for special tasks at the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven and as a lecturer at the University of Oldenburg, among others. I am now even active as a lecturer at the MMC myself. An exciting task that I would never have expected during my studies.

Why did you study MMC?
The Management Consulting degree programme was very interesting for me as I enjoy project work and like to adapt to new situations. In this degree programme, I wanted to gain a deeper insight into the everyday life and requirements of a management consultant.
What was particularly positive?
For me, the practical experience gained from project work during my studies was very helpful and enriching. I was able to try out different situations and actually help a company or the entrepreneurs in charge.
How did it help you?
The practical aspects in particular, combined with the theoretical knowledge transfer, are unique to this degree programme. You learn to put what you have already learnt into practice through operational activities. You can also gain experience in dealing with managers and managing directors.
What are you doing now?
I work as a management consultant for CPEM Consulting GmbH in Meppen. It was clear to me that I didn't want to switch to one of the big international management consultancies, but rather advise companies in the region. I have not regretted this decision, as graduates are very quickly given responsibility, especially in medium-sized consultancies.
