Presentation of the study programme concept
A collaborative degree programme unique in Germany
The Master’s degree programme in “Management Consulting” is designed, amongst other things, to address the need for greater professionalisation within the consultancy sector. This degree programme qualifies students for consultancy roles within and for organisations (e.g. external management consultancy, in-house consultancy, meta-consultancy, etc.). Through the close integration of consultancy theory and practice (e.g. real-world case studies) and modern teaching and learning frameworks, the programme imparts fundamental consultancy skills as well as critical insight into the possibilities and limitations of intervention.

The co-operation between the University of Oldenburg and Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences represents an innovative approach that meets the industry’s and students’ requirements for a balanced mix of theoretical and practical elements.
The degree programme’s concept is also unique in that it imparts both theoretical and practical knowledge in equal measure. For example, students can apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in projects with companies in a very concrete way whilst still studying. To create the best possible conditions for this, the number of students admitted each winter semester is limited to 25. For students, this means small-group learning with effective teaching and learning structures, and ongoing interaction with lecturers. Upon successful completion of the degree programme, the two universities award the title “Master of Arts” (abbreviated to M.A.) in Management Consulting.
