The teaching materials presented here on the topics of ‘paper-making’, ‘bookbinding’ and ‘letterpress printing’ can be used both in Regional Environmental Education Centres (RUZ) and for project days in schools. To ensure the projects are a success, the lecturers’ technical expertise is of the utmost importance. For this reason, the RUZ Oldenburg, in co-operation with the Augustfehn Book Workshop, provides training courses. In one- to two-day training sessions, lecturers learn how to handle the materials and tools, as well as the correct working procedures.

All three teaching resources contain not only the necessary subject-specific information and worksheets – which provide a theoretical framework for the practical elements – but also illustrated, step-by-step descriptions of the work processes.

We would like to point out here that these three projects are also committed to the principle of sustainability. It is therefore advisable to read the ‘Introduction to Sustainability’ before using the materials in class.
