Podcast: "Inclusion - wishful thinking or reality?"
Desire or reality?
This question is particularly important when it comes to inclusion as a social responsibility within the university context.
Universities are more than just educational institutions – they are spaces for exchange, innovation, and social transformation. Inclusion should not merely be a concept, but a lived reality. Yet how often does the aspiration for an inclusive university remain unfulfilled? And how can we turn that aspiration into tangible reality?
Inclusion is not just a social ideal or obligation, but also a fundamental prerequisite for a fair and diverse society – both collectively and individually. Diversity and equal opportunity play a crucial role in ensuring that everyone has the same chances and access, regardless of origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other individual characteristics.
In the past year (2024), we engaged intensively with this important topic at our university. It was explored not only from an academic perspective, but also through political and artistic lenses – with personal perspectives contributing as well.
As part of a podcast, Prof. Dr. Katharina Al-Shamery (Vice President for Academic Career Paths, Equal Opportunities and International Affairs), Dr. phil. Martin Podszus (Representative for Students with Disabilities or Chronic Illnesses), the university's Autonomous LGBTQ+ Student Representation (Autonomes SchwuRef), and Hanna Naber, MdL (SPD), shared their insights on this complex issue.
Tune in – it’s worth it!
