Water comes out of our taps, but how does it actually get there? Water is essential for the survival of us humans and all other living creatures. Although there is a lot of water on our blue planet, most of it is salty and undrinkable for us. Only a very small proportion of the water forms the fresh water that is so important to us.
In the lecture, we accompany a drop of water on its journey around the world. We observe how water evaporates from the sea, forms clouds and later falls to earth as rain. We investigate how rain seeps into the ground, where it flows underground as groundwater between the grains of sand and is even cleaned by the soil. It returns to the surface at rivers, lakes or springs and continues its long journey back to the sea. The lecture also shows you how important it is to protect our water and keep it clean.
