OnVico
Online video coaching on modelling the energy concept. A professional development project with science teachers
The OnVico project focuses on an innovative professional development programme for science teachers on the topic of energy. The centre focuses on the development and evaluation of multimedia and web-based content, which is made available to lecturers on an online platform for self-directed learning. During the training, lecturers are supported by ‘experts’ via video-based online coaching. The training will draw on modelling based on Feynman’s building blocks (Feynman, 1963) in order to facilitate the acquisition of subject-accurate and transferable knowledge of the concept of energy. Engaging with Feynman’s building blocks is promising, as teaching with and about models has successfully influenced pupils’ learning outcomes in the past.
As the planned training programme is innovative, it will be subject to ongoing evaluation. The insights gained from this will help to ensure that future training programmes are designed as effectively as possible.
