Sovereign digital teaching and learning in Lower Saxony (Souver@n)
With the state-wide joint project "Souver@nes digitales Lehren und Lernen in Niedersachsen"(Souver@n), a co-operation project of eight universities has been created with the support of the foundation Innovation in University Teaching.
In the four-year project (2021-2025), empirical knowledge was pooled and digital competences from different areas of the cooperating universities were sharpened to contribute to the promotion of sovereign digital teaching and learning. The overall coordination was the responsibility of the University of Oldenburg, the University of Osnabrück and Leuphana University Lüneburg.
The orientation of this project can be described by three overarching objectives:
- The competent and learning goal-orientated (i.e. confident) use of digital tools by teachers and students (digital literacy),
- the professional development of high-quality digital teaching/learning concepts and content, and
- the sovereignty of the universities as institutions strengthened by the network.
The Souver@n project was divided into four work packages. The was assigned to work package 2 "Content/OER". This work package was coordinated by the University of Oldenburg and Hannover Medical School and included the development of digital learning content, the teaching of digital teaching skills to tutors and a best practice collection of teaching and learning concepts.
In the field of didactics of subject teaching at the University of Oldenburg in cooperation with the University of Hildesheim Foundation, digital learning content was developed for the basic qualification in subject teaching in two areas:
At the University of Oldenburg, Laura Haarhus, under the direction of Prof.in Dr Maja Brückmann , developed digital teaching material on extracurricular learning locations and excursions in Sachunterricht, and at the University of Hildesheim, Dr Lena Ohnesorge, under the direction of Prof.in Dr Katrin Hauenschild, developed digital teaching material on multi-perspectivity in Sachunterricht. Both material packages can be used, modified and applied as part of the basic qualification in subject teaching at the university. The material from Oldenburg is available in an H5P format that can be used for the LMS Moodle, StudIP and ELIAS. The Hildesheim material was implemented in StudIP and Moodle.
For more information, please refer to the QR code on the handout on this page, which gives a brief insight into both materials. You will find a detailed explanation in the concept for the materials. If we have piqued your interest and you would like to view the material, please contact Dr Norbert Kleinefeld or Verena Honkomp-Wilkens for the Oldenburg material. For the material from Hildesheim, please contact the Office of the Institute for Primary School Didactics and Sachunterricht.
Sovereign subject teaching concept
View the Souverän-Sachunterricht concept here.
A concept has been developed to accompany the Souverän-Sachunterricht materials in order to clarify their position in the overall project and the significance of the material for subject teaching. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Norbert Kleinefeld, Verena Honkomp-Wilkens or the Office in Hildesheim.
