The Department of German Studies at the School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg (Germany) invites applications for a full-time postdoc position of a
(100%, TV-L 13 German salary scale)
in Hearing Research/Phonetics as soon as possible for a limited period of two years. The position is suitable for part-time work.
The position will join a research group focusing on the effect of voice quality on speech intelligibility and listening effort, which is associated to the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4All (https://hearing4all.de/).The Research Associate’s primary responsibilities include setting up and performing experiments with native speakers of German, creating stimuli using speech synthesis, maintaining and analyzing data, and assisting with preparing reports and manuscripts in collaboration with the principal investigator (Jörg Peters). Other responsibilities may include organizing workshops and providing general administrative support.
- Qualifying academic university degree (Master or diploma)
- Completed PhD (by the start of the appointment) in Hearing Research, Speech Synthesis, Automatic Speech Recognition, Phonetics, Computer Linguistics, or a related field.
- Expertise in experimental methodology, statistics and programming (e.g., R, Matlab, Praat scripting, E-Prime).
Fluency in German is an advantage but not required.
The position is to be filled by January 1, 2023, or otherwise at the earliest possible date.
