The School of Medicine and Health Sciences (Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics) and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft would like to fill, within the framework of a joint appointment based on the Jülich model, the

W3 Professorship for Hearing, Speech and Neurotechnology (m/f/d)

and in personnel union a leading position at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT, Institute Section Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology HSA in Oldenburg as soon as possible.

The University of Oldenburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT have been cooperating for many years in the field of hearing, speech and audio technology, among others within the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4All. The professorship is associated with a management function at the Oldenburg branch for Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology HSA of the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT, which includes the scientific-technical and entrepreneurial management and development of the field of work within the Fraunhofer model and the overall Fraunhofer strategy.

The successful candidate will be involved in the development of the "Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology" department of Fraunhofer IDMT into an independent Fraunhofer Institute for Hearing, Speech and Neurotechnology and will play a leading role in this new institute. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4All, the SFB Hearing Acoustics as well as to other structured research programs within the Center of Excellence for Hearing Research. Furthermore, the successful candidate will conduct translational research in hearing, speech and (non-invasive) neurotechnology to establish the hearing aid as the mobile health communication center of the future. These topics are to be competently represented in research as well as research and technology management to public research funding and research stakeholders from industry and academia. In addition, the strategic cooperation between the university and the Fraunhofer Institute is to be expanded. Furthermore, the future position holder has to participate in the core teaching program of the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, focusing on Physics/Technology/Medicine (PTM), Engineering Physics, Acoustics and connections to Medicine and Neuroscience. Courses are to be offered in German and English, and the language skills required for each are to be acquired in a reasonable amount of time. The candidate's expertise must be compatible with the topics of the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4All as well as related research topics of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Required are international publications, e.g. in the fields of Hearing Acoustics, Speech Processing and Neurosensory technology, as well as the successful acquisition, management and execution of third-party funded projects. Several years of leadership experience of interdisciplinary research groups, experience in strategic planning, acquisition and execution of national and international research and development projects in different business areas as well as competencies in technology exploitation are required. Practical experience in collaboration with industry in areas such as acoustics, signal processing, perception, communication, mobility and/or mobile neurotechnology is required.

Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
