Since 2006, the Recognition of Prior Learning Unit has been working to improve the permeability between vocational and higher education. As part of various pilot projects, procedures have been developed for the recognition of individual and general credits, as well as for the integration of different educational pathways. The book *Designing Permeable Educational Programmes through the Recognition of Vocational Competences in Higher Education Programmes* by Wolfgang Müskens provides a comprehensive overview of the work carried out by the Recognition of Prior Learning Unit at the University of Oldenburg, as well as the current state of the debate on recognition and permeability in 2020.
