Student council

General information

In a more precise sense, the student body of Art refers to all students of Art and Media and their consecutive degree programmes.

We, the Student Council, are the representatives for all those enrolled in the degree programmes Art and Media, Art as a Teacher and Art and Media Studies.

We represent you on the various university committees, for example the institute council, are involved in communication within the Institute and are of course also available for parties, social evenings, Christmas parties, etc.

The Student Council (FSR for short) is made up of motivated students who volunteer their time to promote the interests of the students. Every semester there is an FSR election where all students can elect the members of the council.

You can find a current list of all FSR members in the tutor list in the StudIP: Community forum: Student Body Art

Student council work

All students studying Art or a related Master's programme can become a member of the Art and Media Student council. You should be interested in some areas of student council work, be motivated to work for the students and be prepared to attend the student council meetings regularly.

If you are involved in the FSR, you can also apply for an extended Bafög grant and your work will of course be certified so that you have proof of your involvement.

Some areas of work of the FSR

F3V: Attend the General Assembly of Student Body Representatives (F3V for short) on Tuesday at 6 pm. The latest news from various student bodies will be discussed there. Proposals can also be tabled here, for example regarding the printing of posters or leaflets.

Email management: You should check your emails regularly so that you can reply to them or pass them on to the student council.

Facebook/Instagram: You reply to messages from, for example, students or other student bodies, create events and share links. In short: you keep the community up to date!

Institute Council/I-Rat/IR: You’ll attend the institute council meetings, which take place several times a term (Wednesdays, 9.30 am), as a student representative, and pass on the latest information to the student body or relay the student body’s concerns to the teaching staff. You’ll also take part in occasional teaching conferences, which are specifically designed to facilitate an exchange between lecturers and students on teaching matters.

Co-organising Showtime: At the end of every summer semester, the Institute opens its doors to the public. The Student council is involved in this event. As well as organising the exhibition in the Freiraum, we take care of the drinks and the party. Last year, we also designed the Showtime poster.
This means we attend the Institute’s meetings regarding Showtime.

Planning events: The student body regularly organises events. These include, for example, the ‘Artvent’ event (our Christmas party), but the Student council also organises things like summer picnics and student council parties. This is a great opportunity to contribute your ideas.

Planning the Orientation Week and freshers’ weekends for new students: As the student body, we make your start to university life easier. We organise the Orientation Week and, where applicable, the freshers’ weekend. At these events, you’ll get to know the Institute of Art and the student body better.

Postbox management: We in the student body also have a postbox in A10 (near the lecturers) where we receive post. This might include invitations to events or much more. It’s also a way to establish contact with us.

Treasurer: We have a treasurer too! You’ll be responsible for managing our funds.

FSR meetings

The FSR meets regularly to discuss upcoming events and happenings from the degree programme. The respective representatives also report from their committees.

Would you like to come along to a student council meeting and perhaps get involved yourself?

No problem, because all our meetings are open. So you can just drop by!

Feel free to write to us by email or on Instagram, or simply drop by the frei_raum.

You can find the current dates for the student body council meetings in the Stud IP event: Community Forum Fachschaft Kunst. The meeting point is always the frei_raum.

During the lecture-free period, the meetings take place irregularly.
