Student council
General information
In a more precise sense, the student body of Art refers to all students of Art and Media and their consecutive degree programmes.
We, the Student Council, are the representatives for all those enrolled in the degree programmes Art and Media, Art as a Teacher and Art and Media Studies.
We represent you on the various university committees, for example the institute council, are involved in communication within the Institute and are of course also available for parties, social evenings, Christmas parties, etc.
The Student Council (FSR for short) is made up of motivated students who volunteer their time to promote the interests of the students. Every semester there is an FSR election where all students can elect the members of the council.
You can find a current list of all FSR members in the tutor list in the StudIP: Community forum: Student Body Art
Student council work
All students studying Art or a related Master's programme can become a member of the Art and Media Student council. You should be interested in some areas of student council work, be motivated to work for the students and be prepared to attend the student council meetings regularly.
If you are involved in the FSR, you can also apply for an extended Bafög grant and your work will of course be certified so that you have proof of your involvement.
Some areas of work of the FSR
F3V: Visit to the FachschaftenverteterInnenverteterInnenvollversammlung (F3V for short) on Tuesday at 6 pm. Current issues from various student bodies are discussed there. Proposals for e.g. the printing of posters or flyers can also be made here.
Email administration: You should check your emails regularly so that you can reply to them or inform the Student council.
Facebook/Instagram: You reply to messages from e.g. students or other student bodies, create events and share links. In short: you keep the community up to date!
Institute Council/ I-Council/ IR: You attend the institute council meetings (Wednesday, 9:30 am), which take place several times a semester, as a student representative and bring current information to the student body or pass on concerns of the student body to the lecturers. You also take part in infrequent teaching conferences, which are explicitly about an exchange between teachers and students about teaching.
Co-organisation of Showtime: The Institute opens its doors at the end of each summer semester. The Student council is also involved. In addition to the exhibition we organise in the open space, we also take care of the drinks and the party. Last year, we also created the poster for Showtime.
This means we are involved in the Institute's meetings for Showtime.
Planning events: Events are always being planned by the student body for art. This includes, for example, the "Artvent" event (our Christmas party), but also things like summer picnics or Student council parties are planned by the Student council. This is a good place to contribute ideas.
Planning the orientation week and freshers' weekends for the new freshers: As a student body, we make your start to university life easier. We organise the O-Week (Orientation Week) and, if necessary, the Freshers' Weekend. At these events, you will get to know each other, the Institute of Art and us as a student body better.
Mailbox administration: We from the student body also have a mailbox in A10 (with the lecturers) where we receive mail. This can be invitations to events or much more. This is also a way to get in contact with us.
Cash box: We also have a cash box! You take care of the administration of our funds.
FSR meetings
The FSR meets regularly to discuss upcoming events and happenings from the degree programme. The respective representatives also report from their committees.
Would you like to come along to a student council meeting and perhaps get involved yourself?
No problem, because all our meetings are open. So you can just drop by!
Feel free to write to us by email or on Instagram, or simply drop by the frei_raum.
You can find the current dates for the student body council meetings in the Stud IP event: Community Forum Fachschaft Kunst. The meeting point is always the frei_raum.
During the lecture-free period, the meetings take place irregularly.
