Every year in November, the Oldenburg KiBUM presents new publications in the field of children's and youth media from German-language publishers. It is the largest non-commercial trade fair of its kind in Germany and serves to promote reading. Organised by the city of Oldenburg and the university, the exhibition includes over 2,000 titles every year. A varied programme of readings, theatre, storytelling and fairy tale sessions, lectures and hands-on events for children, young people and adults accompanies the fair. The University's Research Centre for Children's and Young Adult Literature (OlFoKi) regularly accompanies KiBUM with academic research on a special topic of children's and young adult literature.
