Profile
Hebatullah ElGamal is a communication, and media educator with ample years of experience in higher education; teaching and quality assurance. While witnessing the establishment of the Egyptian ICT landscape, she played several roles in developing the national information society. She has been contracted by the World Bank in 2004 among a team of consultants to study and research the Egyptian electronic readiness. She has been affiliated to several international working groups studying the rising trends of networked learning and society in the region. She is currently a senior lecturer at the German University in Cairo. With a background in journalism and mass communication, she has earned her B.A. and M.A. from the American University in Cairo. Her master’s thesis on the contextual Arabization of electronic content was often cited. She is currently a PhD Candidate at the Center for Open Education Research at the University of Oldenburg. Her research focuses on the role of video in higher education, as she investigates engagement beyond instant gratification.
