The application process

Where can I apply?

If you have a german bachelors degree you can apply through the universities application portal.

If you have obtained your bachelors degree outside of Germany you can apply through application portal uni-assist.

When can I apply?

The university application portal (for applicants with a German bachelors degree) opens on May 15th.

Uni-assist (for applicants with a non-German bachelors degree) is open now.

For both application portal the deadline for applications is the 15th of June 2026 for first semester applicants. If you want admission to a higher semester the deadline for applications is the 15th of July.

When will I get notified if I get accepted?

The application portals have a processing time of two weeks. The admission committee will review all applications when they have received them from the application portals. They strive to review all applications within three weeks after having received them all. Because of that, invitations can be sent out in August at the earliest.

What are the admission requirements?

You are eligible for the biology masters programme if you have

  1. a bachelors degree in
    1. biology
    2. a biology related field of study with at least 50% of your credit points stemming from biological subjects
    3. or an almost finished bachelors degree (at least 150 of 180 CP or the percentage equivalent) in biology or a related field of study for provisional admission where proof of the completed Bachelor's degree must be provided until the end of your first semester on March 31st
  2. a verification of a level B2 or higher English level through
    1. having completed an English-taught first university degree in a country in which English or German is the official language
    2. or a B2 (or higher) English certificate no older than five years.
