We are happy to inform you that the installation of the FLIM part is finished and the microscope is ready for FLIM measurements and confocal.

The prerequisite for the microscope usage:

1.            S2 lab safety training performed by Nicola Brand. For ones who did not do the training in October the next training will be end of March, beginning of April.

The system can do additionally to normal confocal:

FLIM (Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging):

• Environmental sensing: oxygen concentration, chloride concentration

• pH measurements in living cell

• Multi-Labeling with Dyes (helps to discriminate autofluorescence background)

FCS (Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy):

• Concentration measurements

• Interaction

FRET (Förster resonance energy transfer):

• Protein-protein interaction
• Spatial distribution and assembly of protein complexes

Anisotropy measurements:

• Membrane organization: ordered/disordered phase
• Myosin reorientation
