Student council

What is the Student council?

The Student Council is the elected body representing all Koop students from Oldenburg and Bremen. However, it is often simply referred to as the ‘student body’. Members of the Student Council are elected at the general student assembly, which takes place regularly at the start of the winter semester. Alternatively, you can join the Student Council at any time by standing for election at a later date.

We welcome every new member, as members leave the council from time to time – and not just because they’ve finished their studies. We’re currently urgently looking for new members for all Koop subjects! So if you fancy meeting new people, helping your fellow students and getting involved in improving co-operation between the two universities, then please feel free to come along to our Student Council meetings, or get in touch with us by email or on Facebook (see left). We look forward to seeing you!

What does the Student council do?

First and foremost, the Student Council is responsible for representing the interests of all Co-op students – that is, your interests! So please feel free to write to us with your requests, suggestions or problems, or just come and talk to us. We’re always here to listen and will be happy to help.

Our responsibilities also include:

  • Participation in committees (StugA in Bremen; F3V; meetings with the Executive Board, etc.)
  • Collaboration with the cooperation officer
  • study counselling
  • Organising the orientation week and other events (e.g. games evenings)
  • Acting as a liaison between students and lecturers, the Examinations Office and the BAföG Office
  • Long-term improvement of co-operation between Oldenburg and Bremen

Why should I join the Student council?

  • To get to know like-minded students from Oldenburg and Bremen (community)
  • Up to two extra semesters of BAföG
  • Gain additional qualifications during your studies
  • Exercise your right to active participation
  • Gain political experience on committees
  • Exchange ideas with students from higher semesters
  • Enjoying Christmas parties, orientation week and many other events
  • Volunteering – a major advantage when applying for jobs and scholarships
