Freshers’ Week 2026
Our programme for Orientation Week
O-Week Lounge and Timetable Workshop
The O-Week Lounge (W03 1-153) is the IFC’s main common room (study centre). Throughout the semester, chemistry students meet here to study, chat and spend their breaks.
During O-Week, the room is available to you as a place to relax, with us – the Student council members – on hand to answer any questions you may have.
We’ll help you put together your first timetables – as getting to know the campus can be quite confusing – and answer any questions you have about your studies.
Important: Bring your laptop or tablet and your login details!

Introduction to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Chemistry + Introduction to the Student Council
At this event, you will be welcomed to the Institute of Chemistry, where you will be given a general introduction to the Bachelor’s degree programme (single-subject Bachelor’s: B.Sc., and double-subject or teacher-training Bachelor’s: B.A./B.Sc.) and have all your questions answered. Afterwards, the Chemistry Student Council will introduce itself and provide further details about the orientation week programme.
Master of Science Programme Overview
This event is aimed at everyone who is starting the Master of Science (M.Sc.) programme this term. Here, you will learn more about the structure of the master's degree programme in Chemistry. This includes a presentation of the study plan and how it differs from the Bachelor’s programme. We will also answer any questions you may have about your degree programme and introduce you to the relevant contact persons.
Programme Overview: Master of Education
This event is aimed at everyone starting the Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme this term. Here, you will be introduced to the details of the Master’s programme in Chemistry. This includes an overview of the study plan, answers to any questions you may have about your degree programme, and an introduction to your relevant contact persons.

Games evening
As the games night has proved very popular during our term over the last few years, and the games night during Freshers’ Week was also well received, we’d like to play a wide variety of games with you again this year.
Feel free to bring along your favourite games too!
We’ll provide snacks and a few drinks and are looking forward to a relaxed, fun evening!

Social Evening at Cafe & Bar Celona
After the city rally, the social evening is designed to give you the chance to get to know your fellow students better. We’ll be meeting at Cafe & Bar Celona, a bar in the city centre. They serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as beer, wine and soft drinks.

Universum Bremen
This year, on Saturday, there’ll be a freshers’ trip to Universum Bremen so you can get to know each other !
During Orientation Week, there’ll be a sign-up sheet in the Orientation Week lounge where you can sign up to travel to the Universum on Saturday by train and S-Bahn, accompanied by some Student council members. If you don’t have the chance to sign up on the sign-up sheet, please feel free to send us an email.
If there are 15 or more of you, we’ll set off together in the morning from Oldenburg station. The Universum is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm, but you’re completely free to organise your day there as you wish.
Make the most of this opportunity to get to know each other better on a fun trip to explore the world of science!
