Hello, first-year student,

Your Student Council for Economics and Law would like to extend a very warm welcome to you at the University of Oldenburg. You’re no doubt full of anticipation and perhaps a little nervous – just like us! But what would the start of your degree be without a proper kick-off? You are therefore officially invited to take part in Orientation Week 2026! In keeping with our lively tradition, we pull out all the stops every year to make the start of your studies as smooth and enjoyable as possible for our brand-new freshers (a group you can now count yourself among).

During Orientation Week, you’ll receive useful information about your study programme and the modules on offer. You’ll also have the chance to get to know your future fellow students better and establish new contacts straight away. That last point, in particular, could prove invaluable for the rest of your studies in Oldenburg. Many of us met our current circle of friends during O-Week!

So look forward to four days packed with action, fun and excitement with your Student council!

You’ll receive an email from the university at the end of September with the registration link. The programme is updated regularly. Feel free to follow our Instagram account so you don’t miss any updates (see the link in the sidebar or here: https://www.instagram.com/fsr_wire_uol/). You’ll receive a detailed schedule for Orientation Week shortly before it begins, once you’ve successfully registered. You can find a rough timetable here on this page.

Finally, we’d like to give you a few general tips for your Orientation Week. If you’re not yet living in Oldenburg at the time of Orientation Week, we strongly recommend that you find somewhere to stay for this period. This could be with friends, relatives or other freshers. Experience shows that during Orientation Week, the odd hop- and barley-based bottled drink is consumed – strictly on a voluntary basis, of course! You should therefore leave your car at home if at all possible. Please bring some cash with you so that you can buy tickets for any of the Orientation Week events if required.
