About us

The student body for General Studies comprises all students studying Interdisciplinary General Studies (Bachelor’s) or General Studies (Master’s). So we are all part of the student body together! To represent ourselves and our diverse interests, there is the Student Council, which acts on your behalf in dealings with the university and the lecturers. To this end, we are represented on many different committees within the university, including:

  • institute council
  • Faculty Council
  • Study Committee
  • Subject Committee
  • Assembly of Student Council Representatives for School 1 (FF1)
  • General Assembly of all Student Council Representatives at the University (F3V)

As representatives of the student body, we therefore act as a bridge between lecturers and students; you can always contact us with any questions or problems if you do not wish to speak to the lecturers directly.

Alongside our work at the university and on committees, it is particularly important to us that we bring the entire Social Studies student body together and foster an open and friendly community that maintains close ties with the other student bodies. That is why we get involved in university life as much as possible. For first-year students, we help organise the orientation week at the start of the winter semester and go on the freshers’ trip with you. We also want to spend time with you throughout the semesters, from the ‘Kohltour’ and barbecues to the Christmas party.

We want to put this spirit of openness and community into practice, and we need your help to do so, as the Student Council grows out of the student body. We welcome anyone who’d like to get involved with the Student Council.
