Department council
The Department Council for Business, Economics and Law is an official body that deals with all matters relating to the Department. It is made up of 12 members from the individual status groups (professors, mid-level faculty, students) of the Department of Business, Economics and Law. The 13th member is the Department Director who, in addition to chairing the department council, also represents the Department externally.
The committee serves to communicate department-related information and formulates positions or proposals - e.g. addressed to the University Senate, the StudienAG, the Study Commission or the Presidential Board - from the perspective of the Department Administration. It also votes on internal faculty financial matters relating to the Department WiRe, decides on personnel matters within the Department and discusses various issues relating to examinations and admissions. The department council can make final decisions on many department-related matters.
The Student council for Business, Economics and Law has two seats on the department council. This means that although there is no veto power, the interests of the students can always be represented in controversial discussions.
