The Studien-AG (SAG) is a permanent committee of School II. Strictly speaking, there are two different SAGs at our School, namely one for the Department of Computing Science (SAG-Computing Science) and one for the Department of Business, Economics and Law (SAG-WiRe). We from the FSR-WiRe are represented in the SAG-WiRe.
Three major topics are regularly discussed here. The first area concerns the use of tuition fees. This involves discussing the use of the portion of tuition fees that School II can spend decentrally and independently. For example, these funds are regularly used to finance additional tutor positions. The second major subject area of the WiRe Study Group is programme development. This involves, for example, the revision or amendment of examination regulations and their subject-specific annexes. In the third subject area of the SAG-WiRe, the committee deals with the issuing of teaching assignments and the associated examination entitlement. In addition, the Studien-AG offers the opportunity for all three status groups represented (professors, mid-level staff, students) to inform each other about current developments.
The Studien-AG is chaired by the Dean of Studies. It is made up of two representatives of the professors, two representatives of the academic staff (non-professorial staff) and four representatives of the students of the FSR-WiRe. This means that if the student representatives vote unanimously against a proposal, it is deemed to have been rejected by the SAG.
Formally speaking, however, the SAG has no decision-making powers, but its task is to draw up proposals, positions and recommendations, which are then passed on to the Study Commission for further decision-making. The SAG is therefore the preparatory body for the Study Commission. However, this usually follows the recommendations of the SAG.
