The Russian avant-gardes fundamentally problematised the fact that traditional institutions tend to stifle lively processes of perception and learning.

With the help of a genealogical perspective, the course unfolds how and under what conditions the Russian avant-gardes developed a "social" concept of art. Particular attention is paid to the blockades that still impede access to this extremely vital phase of artistic experimentation today. Methodical improvisation is therefore required not only in the appropriation of avant-garde history, but also in the appropriation of this legacy for art education practice today...

Rahel Puffert, is a cultural scientist and art educator

Professor of Art and Education at the Braunschweig University of Art. From 2012-20 she held the professorship Art - Mediation - Education at the University of Oldenburg. Since 2013 artistic director of "Werkhaus Münzviertel. Interweaving pedagogy, art & neighbourhood work", Hamburg. As a freelance art mediator, she was, among other things, a process facilitator for the model project "Über Lebenskunst. Schule" (Federal Cultural Foundation, HKW Berlin, Free University Berlin). She prefers to work in collectives such as the artist groups THE THING Hamburg, "target: autonopop", tumorchester.
