We (all) are the people 2017/2025 Hans Haacke
Since autumn 2025, two banners from the series We (all) are the people by artist Hans Haacke have been displayed on the bridge between buildings A1 and A14. The title of the work can be read in a total of twelve languages on 10 x 1.5 metre panels, each framed on the left and right by blocks of colour with a rainbow gradient. The languages - Arabic, Bulgarian, German, English, Farsi, French, Polish, Russian, Croatian, Kurdish, Tigrinya and Turkish - represent the countries of origin from which most migrants in Germany came at the time of the work's first presentation at documenta 14 (2017).[i] On the banners, the individual translations are arranged in three blocks and - without judgement - in alphabetical order.

Reality Bites
Works by students from the aesthetic project of the same name
Opening of the exhibition on Sunday, 17 January, 11.15 am, as part of the New Year's reception at Volksbank Westrhauderfehn
Following the exhibition at the Kunstverein Oldenburg last August, the participants in the aesthetic project "Reality Bites" are now presenting their work once again at Volksbank Westrhauderfehn. The students of the subjects "Art and Media" and "Art/Master of Education" are showing paintings, photography, sculptures, objects and installations. The exhibition will be on show until April.
Working together
Students of the subjects Art and Media and Art (Master of Education) show work results from the winter semester 15/16.
Artistic work is usually presented and experienced as an individual process. Collaborative work offers a particularly wide range of possibilities and opens up completely new approaches to artistic processes. The focus can shift from the identification of artist and work to the creative process. Or perhaps a new, multipersonal artist subject emerges from the individuals involved? The participants have developed and realised their own artistic concepts in pairs and groups, which will be shown in the presentation until the end of May.

"We'll talk about art later"
Exhibition from 21 May to 14 June at the Aquarium
a new, experimental exhibition format of the Edith-Russ-Haus for Media Art Oldenburg
Loosely based on the quote "We'll talk about art later" from a lecture by Rolf Strobel at the Göttingen Film Festival in 1953, students are exploring the political action potential of film in contrast to its aesthetic components. The group of students from the Master of Education, Art and Media Studies and Integrated Media programmes compared their research into historical and contemporary positions with the prevailing view in the 1960s that film had a primarily social and political function.

Installations, objects, photos, paintings and drawings were created for foods such as sugar, milk, tea, soya, coconut, potato, mango etc. The foodstuffs, chosen according to personal preferences, are either playfully staged or conceptually analysed. The results are varied. While some installations look colourful and delicious, others reveal curious things or analytically trace the intertwining of food in politics and the economy.
Students: Lydia Dirks, Cindy Dörre, Nelli Fishman, Jaqueline Glaubitz, Jantja Sara Groenewold, Svenja Jacobs, Franziska Kaiser, Tatjana Konradi , Ronja Korfe, Maureen Li, Sarina Lux, Marie Christin Müller, Linda Peters, Daniel Schoch, Nadine Seiler, Dominik Soijke, Cora Scholz, Julia Uhlig, Luise Nostiz-Wallwitz
when attitudes become props
When Attitudes Become Form was the title Harald Szeemann gave to an exhibition that defined new forms of installation, environment and happening in 1968. The reflections on time-based sculpture presented here bring together different concepts of rhythm and the logic of sound, time and space in a video update from the perspective of a post-digital generation. Temporary still lifes and scenic episodes contrast images of nature and ideas of pre-industrial idylls and cultural history with an urban sovereignty of interpretation of space and landscape. The seclusion is utilised for the hand-signed, semantic video series and reproduced in the ether or around the campfire.
