Committees & Councils
What is the student body? Who sits on the Student council? What is the study committee? What is the institute council? ...
At first, it's not so easy to understand how students are organised at the university and what co-determination rights and opportunities they have. There are many committees to which we as the Landscape Ecology student body can elect representatives so that we Löks can also actively participate in decision-making processes.
If you are interested in playing an active role in university politics, please get in touch with - we are always happy to receive support and creative, motivated minds!
Student body
All students studying Landscape Ecology at the University of Oldenburg are members of the Landscape Ecology student body - in other words, all Löks!
Student council
The Student council is made up of Löks, who are elected as student representatives by all landscape ecologists. The elections take place at the end of each year and are always announced via the email distribution list and notices.
People often refer to the student body when they actually mean the Student council. The common abbreviation for Student council is FS.
Study committee
Teachers and students of the Master's programme in Landscape Ecology sit on the study committee. The curriculum for the coming semester is discussed here and current topics in the degree programme are discussed. A final vote is then taken on the studyability of the curriculum with regard to our current examination regulations.
Institute Council (I-Council)
Our Institute is the IBU - the Institute of Biology and Environmental Sciences. Every Institute (or Department in other Schools) at the University has an Institute Council. The representatives are elected on 1 April each year and are made up of students, university lecturers, academic staff and technical and administrative staff (MTV group).
In addition to a non-public part, each meeting consists of a public part that everyone is allowed to attend. Topics discussed include problems of the study committees (Landscape Ecology Study Committee and Biology Study Committee), the distribution of funds, the coordination of semester plans and so on...
Student Parliament (StuPa)
The StuPa is elected once a year and represents the student body. It elects the AstA.
AStA (General Students' Committee)
The AStA is the executive body of the student parliament and implements its resolutions.
