Dear LÖK-interested parties,
nice that that you have for the Master's programme in Landscape Ecologynterested! We have some information for you collected:
Teaching
Our degree programme teaches research-related and practical content. Both research and teaching take place in various terrestrial ecosystems, especially in coastal ecosystems and peatlands. At the beginning of the degree programme, the basic modules Data Modelling, Ecology, Geological Processes, Environmental Planning and Geographical Information Systems.ssystems, depending on your previous knowledge and study orientation. A special feature of Landscape Ecology in Oldenburg, however, is that there are no compulsory modules. This means that the degree programme can be very flexible be organised.
The semester is divided into two halves. This means that there are some block-like courses that are only offered in one half of the semester. In addition, there are also modules that extend over the whole semester or only take place during the lecture-free period. This provides a lot of flexibility, but also requires careful planning depending on the course selection. Some modules are taught in German and some in English.
Our Master's programme is currently changing, as several professors who have shaped the degree programme over a long period of time have retired or will retire. At the same time come professors are joining, who bring new topics. In additionwas the Master of Landscape Ecology more closely with the Master Biology.
The changes can be seen in the current study programme plan (in the box on the left or mobile: below).
Specialisation and excursions
Specialisation options are available in the areas of functional ecology, restoration ecology, animal and plant ecology, soil and hydrogeoecology, ornithology, environmental planning and nature conservation. 30 credit points can be imported from other subject-related Master's programmes (M. Sc.) can be imported. At our university there are e.g. "Biology", "Marine Environmental Sciences", "environmental modelling" and "Water and Coastal Management". By arrangement, the 30 CP can also be acquired via Master's courses at other universities. Our degree programme also offers many excursion opportunities. The focus is on Germany. EHowever, some excursions also take place in other European countries and occasionally even beyond. In the "research moduless" at the university or externally 15 CP each can be acquired. This allows you to set individual specialisations. There is also the option of, to spend a semester abroad. Landscape Ecology cooperates with many universities throughout Europe. Sweden and Norway are particularly popular, as are Austria and Spain.
Prospects
After graduation, many of us work in the fields of nature conservation and landscape planning, renaturalisation of ecosystems and management of protected areas, as well as soil and water conservation or environmental informatics. Employers can be, for example environmental planning offices, protected area administrations, nature conservation authorities or environmental and nature conservation organisations. organisations.
Best regards,
