Development of part-time study programmes in nursing and health sciences (PuG)

The project alliance between the University of Oldenburg, the Jade University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth, the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences for Health in Bochum aims to develop high-quality, competitive, science and research-related degree programmes that aim to directly transfer science at the interface between universities and universities of applied sciences and contribute to meeting the growing demand for academically trained specialists in the nursing and healthcare professions.

Specifically, four Bachelor's degree programmes and three Master's degree programmes are to be (further) developed and sustainably implemented. This will build on the experience and networking in the field of nursing and health sciences of the universities involved in the project as well as the expertise of the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg as one of the largest further education institutions at German universities in the field of continuing education and part-time study programmes.

Further information can be found on the official project website at pug-pflege-und-gesundheit.de/

With its instruments for carrying out equivalence comparisons between non-university and university education programmes, the "Competence Area for Credit Transfer" plays a key role in promoting the permeability of the degree programmes being developed in PuG.

All planned study programmes are to be supported in the introduction of individual credit transfer procedures for academic appointments. The support concerns both the formal anchoring of credit transfer (e.g. in examination regulations and credit transfer guidelines) and the organisational design of the credit transfer process. Tailor-made credit transfer instruments for individual credit transfer (e.g. credit transfer portfolios) are to be developed together with the degree programmes.

For Bachelor's programmes aimed at students with academic appointments, flat-rate credit transfer options based on systematic equivalence comparisons are to be set up. The flat-rate credit transfer options should be developed in co-operation with academic appointment providers (e.g. nursing schools). To improve permeability, non-university education providers are to be supported in the modularisation and quality development of their courses where necessary.

The entire project will be accompanied by targeted credit transfer workshops, which will deal with the planning of equivalence comparisons, the alignment of credit transfer procedures with the specifics of the programmes and the coordination of development steps with those responsible for the programmes, among other things.
