The establishment of a Prior Learning Assessmentand Recognition Service (PLAR Service) is part of the PLARnet project, which is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) and the University of Oldenburg. Under the academic leadership of Prof. Dr Olaf Zawacki-Richter, the Examinations Office, the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L), the Competence Centre for Credit Transfer of School I and the Department for Study Affairs are cooperating in the PLARnet project. The close cooperation between these institutions is intended to ensure that the PLAR procedure is anchored in the university's committees and processes throughout the university.

It is often difficult to present learning outcomes and existing competences in a comprehensible manner and thus make them visible for credit transfer without appropriate help. From January 2017, the central PLAR service will support students in recording learning outcomes and competences acquired outside the university and thus promote the recognition of academic appointments in close co-operation with the respective subject representatives and examining boards.

What the PLAR service offers

The PLAR service helps you to present your learning outcomes and competences in a comprehensible way and thus make them visible for a credit transfer application.

The PLAR service can support you if you

• are enrolled at the University of Oldenburg,
• have completed vocational training and/or have skills and competences from further education and training,
• have identified skills that you already possess in the module description of your degree programme.
