Answer page
As we occasionally receive enquiries via our anonymous FeedBackBox that we would like to answer directly, we have decided to set up a small question and answer page here in addition to our logs in which we process/answer the enquiries.
You will always find the latest enquiries at the top. As a rule, collected answers should be uploaded weekly with a slight delay after the FSR meetings.
Publication of election results
Enquiry:
When will the election results be uploaded? Unfortunately, they weren't uploaded last semester. As a voter, I think it's only fair to find out how the election turned out.
Opinion:
Hello democratic biology student,
We are of course pleased about your interest in the outcome of our student council elections.
However, we are a little surprised at your impatience ;) We know that we are not always the fastest, but an enquiry less than 24 hours after the election?
But don't worry, we'll fulfil your curiosity. As I'm writing these lines, another Schnäbler is writing the first circular email with all the important details about the student council elections.
I would like to contradict your statement that the results of last semester's election were not published. The exact voting results were available as survey results for a longer period of time in the summer semester before the survey was deactivated. Afterwards, as every semester, a circular mail with a list of the elected members was sent out via the BioVerteiler.
This semester, however, the FSR, in consultation with the election management, has decided to no longer share the exact voting results about the event, but only to publish the circular email with the list of elected members as a notification of results.
To anticipate the newsletter, I can already report here that we were pleased to see one of the highest voter turnouts in recent years. In the winter semester, the new student council consisting of 14 young and old Schnäblers will once again be working on making our studies better for all of us and organising one or two extracurricular events.
However, what we have also observed in this election to an unprecedented extent is that there are votes against all candidates. This applies both to some of our older Schnäbler who have been campaigning for better biology studies for semesters, as well as our young Schnäbler chicks who are only now motivated to start working in the student council. In the last election periods, we attributed votes against to personal dislikes, but now we see a general dislike of a broad front of candidates from some voters, as well as votes against all candidates from some voters. The latter in particular meets with incomprehension on our part. Over the course of the semester, we have not received any critical re-registering students on our work and cannot explain why such voting behaviour has arisen.
Therefore we ask... - actively encourage and challenge you all to let us know what you think. If you have any problems with the way we run the student body, please let us know. This is the only way we can reflect on your concerns and do our best to address them or clear up any misunderstandings. Feel free to use this FeedBackBox, or simply come to one of our meetings! Even if you have a problem with us and really just want to complain, you are (no less) welcome and will not bite at Bewir.
Library/StudyLounge opening hours
Enquiry:
Hello,
I think it's okay that the library opens later during the holidays, but what I do NOT think is okay is that there is no alternative to a quiet place to study. The StudiLounge also opens at 9:00 a.m. (which I generally don't understand, it can always be open (or at least when the information desk is occupied).
You have to sit down at the chairs in the cafeteria, where people are constantly chatting and you can't concentrate at all.
In my opinion, this defeats the purpose of a university, which is a place to study.
Perhaps this can be changed....
Thank you very much!
re-registration:
Library hours are a mystery in themselves, but the restrictions - especially during the lecture-free period - are at least understandable given the current understaffing of the library.
The StudyLounge, on the other hand, formally belongs to the administrative area of the canteen, i.e. to the Studierendenwerk. We have passed on the complaint/lack of understanding about the late opening hours to the student representatives on the SWO Administrative Board.
Kind regards
Piet and crew
