DS1: Sewing machine maintenance
Introduction
The maintenance of sewing machines is the central task of this lesson.
This maintenance task is carried out with the help of step-by-step instructions.
It should be noted that the instructions cannot reproduce every step exactly due to the large number of models. The steps shown are an example of how to proceed when maintaining the mechanics of sewing machines. Pupils should therefore be able to transfer the steps in the instructions to their own sewing machine model.
Preparations
For this lesson, the sewing machines to be serviced should either be provided by the teacher or brought by the students themselves. In the latter case, make sure that the parents are informed and have signed a disclaimer.
The instructions should be available in sufficient quantities.
Containers for screws etc. should also be available.
As the mechanics of the sewing machine may be dirty due to old lubricants and stored dust, pupils should wear smocks or old clothes if necessary.
